So are they going to personally escort us out of the secure area after our last flight of the day, just to make sure we go through security again? WTF? The stupidity of the TSA never ceases to amaze me.

... I guess that's what you get when you give a high school drop out a badge. At least these cretins aren't armed.

Is your airline requiring all reserve pilots to go through secuirty even if your not DH'ing and just operating a flight?

Mine is, and i'm trying to find out if this is standard.

Security is a joke. They should work on improving their current security measures and quit screwing around with this crap. This article supports my theory.

From ABC news online. AU

Grenade gets past airport security screening

It has been revealed an airport security failure allowed a man to fly from Los Angeles to Sydney with a grenade in his checked luggage.

After questioning from the Opposition, the Justice Minister has confirmed the incident took place last April and came to light when the passenger declared the grenade upon arrival in Sydney.

The grenade was found to be inert and had been purchased by the passenger as a souvenir.

American authorities have since been notified of the screening failure, but Labor MP John Murphy wants an explanation.

"Somehow or other a grenade has gone through undetected when every day around the world security agencies are picking up passengers for having scissors and nail clippers in their luggage," he said.

"I'm absolutely amazed and I'd like to know what the American authorities are doing about that."

Throw in a barrel of rum and some beach babe and you have the makings for one helluva spring break.

note to HIMS: this is humor

Our airline will comply with this directive and encourages all employees to read the additional communications distributed in company email and through the operational department.
New TSA Security Requirements- Details for Crewmembers21-Mar-2007The TSA now classifies crewmembers who are assigned a deadhead by the company as passengers. This new classification requires deadheading crewmembers and their accessible property to be screened at a security check point and are subject to being selected for secondary screening at the gate.
This new classification also considers jumpseaters who are commuting or traveling in non revenue status as passengers. This new classification will require jumpseaters and their accessible items to be screened before jumpseating.

Have fun catching those flights with the instant increase in "pax travel" going through security!!!!
jumpseaters are screened now before jumpseating, and i dont think the TSA is going to know if we're working or commuting

Now the rules require that at the end of your shift, you must exit security, only to re-enter security right away to be re-screened. This is just absurd. Hypothetically, if you had something that you didn't want TSA to find, you would just leave it somewhere in the secure are before you get re-screened (on the airplane, in the crew lounge, etc.). I really see no purpose for this new rule whatsoever, other than to inconvenience flight crews.
exactly and how are they going to know if you need to be rescreened, i dont see too many TSA people down at the gates, and with all the crew memebers walking around how are they going to keep track of who was screened, whos working and whos commuting? it seems ubserd and i think they'll have a tough time enforcing it

ALPA, is great at getting people their jobs back that have no place flying an airplane, yet when it comes to things like this, were bound to get the usually "Our hands are tied"
