TSA Issues New Screening Requirements Effective March 2221-Mar-2007According to a security Bulletin issued today by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), all airline employees or authorized representatives who plan to travel as a passenger on-board any aircraft must undergo screening.
Our airline will comply with this directive and encourages all employees to read the additional communications distributed in company email and through the operational department.
New TSA Security Requirements- Details for Crewmembers21-Mar-2007The TSA now classifies crewmembers who are assigned a deadhead by the company as passengers. This new classification requires deadheading crewmembers and their accessible property to be screened at a security check point and are subject to being selected for secondary screening at the gate.
This new classification also considers jumpseaters who are commuting or traveling in non revenue status as passengers. This new classification will require jumpseaters and their accessible items to be screened before jumpseating.
Have fun catching those flights with the instant increase in "pax travel" going through security!!!!

Its really not THAT big of a deal...if you were screened in the morning, operated a few flights and THEN are put on a DH, you've never left the secure area and therefore are not subject to being re-screened.
At least that's how my company interprets that SD...

that's why i always try to stay inside of security. Side note however, at any of the airports i've operated from so far, the TSA wouldn't know if we were flying the flight, jumpseating, deadheading, non-reving, or anything else, we simply walk to the short line and go.

This in response to an MCO ramper taking a bunch of handguns and 8 pounds of pot, sneaking it on to an airplane and bouncing off to Puerto Rico. He got caught...we get punished.

It has pretty much been this way since 9/11. for ground ops personell. You can work in and out of the planes all day, but if you were flying out after your shift you had to get screened. It doesnt sound like this will affect flight crews other than tsa asking if you are working . commuting..this sounds like another bit of BS to put up with...

RE: ENHANCED SECURITY PROCEDURES / NEW SECURITY DIRECTIVE
DUE TO NEW SECURITY DIRECTIVE REGULATIONS EFFECTIVE
IMMEDIATELY, ALL EMPLOYEES AND CREWMEMBERS TRAVELING AS
PASSENGERS MUST ACCESS THE STERILE AREA THROUGH THE
TSA CHECKPOINT AND UNDERGO SCREENING.
TSA WILL ALSO CONDUCT SCREENING AT THE BOARDING GATE
OF INDIVIDUALS, INCLUDING REVENUE AND NON-REVENUE
PASSENGERS AND CREWMEMBERS, PRIOR TO PASSENGER BOARDING.
FOR CREWMEMBERS: IF YOU HAVE COMPLETED YOUR SEQUENCE AS
A WORKING CREWMEMBER AND ARE COMMUTING HOME, TRAVELING
ON PERSONAL TRAVEL AT THE COMPLETION OF YOUR TRIP, YOU ARE
NOW REQUIRED TO EXIT THE SECURED SIDE OF THE OPERATION
AND RE-ENTER THROUGH A TSA SECURITY CHECKPOINT.
So even if you started your day by going through the checkpoint, which you almost always do, to go home you have to leave the sterile area, and get re-screened.
And if you don't I guess you're violating the SD.
