Default Eagle's Future

Im thinking about applying at American Eagle, but im getting mixed signals on what Eagle's future looks like. One CRJ-700 check airmen I talked to said the company has plans to expand (atleast his flying anways), and on various postings, its been said Eagle's flying will stay flat. The same back and forth principle applies for upgrade times as well. So, for those already at Eagle, or for those that have more wisdom than I, what does your crystal ball say about Eagle's future?

They are going to get spun off, then in a few years 69 of their planes are going to be released from their newly signed CPA, and some other regional will take the flying from you guys...............Then not wanting to give the a/c back to Americans incompetent CEO they will start their own airline out of ONT......................wait a sec

Basically nobody knows. Hell I doubt the CEO of Eagle knows. Anyone who says they know exactly what will happen with any airline is full of bs. All you can do is find a company that you would like to work for today based on bases, contract, QOL, and hope for the best in the future. I think that Eagle has a lot of POTENTIAL for the future, but that remains to be seen.

This post is spot on, in my opinion. Do what's right for you.

The thing with the Beagle is that everything is dependent on the mothership. If AA stays profitable, expands, etc., Eagle is probably going to be a good place to be. However, if another downturn hits, here come the flowbacks (if that agreement still exists), and up goes your upgrade time. Eagle fliers, when does the flowthrough agreement expire? Personally, if you have the time, I'd look elsewhere (the big 3: SkyWest, Air Wisconsin, XJet). Such airlines are not completely maxed out on growth (like I THINK Eagle is, I don't know, though), don't have a flowthrough/flowback, and still get you the quality time to apply to American and others on down the line.

Good luck.

IMO, if there is going to be any growth its going to be after the AA contract negotiations are complete. As for flowthrough I here they are working on it, guess it expires soon. Been buried in jungle jet books

Expires at 2359:59 (1159:59 pm) 31 April 2008. It is going to be a fun 12 months to see what happens.

Eagle could definitely expand a lot, but the problem is we dont have any a/c to do so right now. There will be NO new aircraft for for AE until the MD80 replacement plans are set in stone (half the replacements will be 737s half will be some sort of 100seat product), the APA contract is hammered out, and 787s are ordered. I am guessing this will all be around 2009. When this happens I am guessing some 70seaters will be ordered for Eagle. AE wont see anything larger than that in my opinion.

P.S. this is all speculation! I am not that smart
