Very complicated and I haven't followed it closely since I left PSA.

Essentially, and this leaves out tons of nuance,

US Air Begat MidAtlantic (MDA).

PSA, Piedmont, & Allegheny pilots & Airways furloghees had the opportunity to go to MDA.

MDA was supposed to have its own operating certificate, but never did.

After MDA was sold to Republic, and thier pilots screwed over, they filed a grievence vs Airways.

The arbitrator decided that all MDA pilots were, in fact, Airways pilots, even the PDT guys, who had never been at mainline.

As furloghed "Mainline" pilots, the PDT (MDA) guys were given status on the Affected Pilot List (APL), which allowed them to be placed at Jets for Jobs (J4J) carriers, as CAPTAINS.

About the time I left PSA, they had thier first upgrade class in the year and a half I had been there. It was 6 J4Js. Four were PDT-MDA guys.

PSA pilots grived the placement of MDA pilots, who were not Mainline furloghees, on PSA's seniority list as Captains....

To add insult to injury, rumors were flying that the PDT guys had doh (at PDT) later than PSA guys waiting to upgrade, or that they had never held CA even at PDT, much less at MDA, but were now getting it at PSA. I have no personal knowledge of the truthfullness of these accusations, but have heard people affirm and deny the rumors.

Enjoy training, I thought it was a good program. Much better than what I got at Eagle. But do not be afraid to leave that place in a hearbeat. It is not one of the better places to be. The sooner you leave, the less it will hurt.

Are you serious? That is the gutsiest (or craziest) move I have ever heard of....!
