It's not a jest at all. Just realistic in my view. I've been around a while and see how things work. There are things to worry about in this job and things not to worry about. In my opinion, based on my experience, this is one not to worry about. If you have a CP that's out to get people for this sort of activity, then maybe it's a different story.

Morally bankrupt, now THAT's a laugh....

Spend 18 years at 121 airlines and come back and talk to me about what's morally bankrupt and what isn't.

"Again, it just takes a minor incident or accident, and you'll be doing a carpet dance"

Based on my scenario, why? What rules would you be violating?

Clearly you've been around this industry for awhile, and I respect your input, however; I have personally known of a case where a CFI was subjected to the scrutiny of the feds due an incident, the school was also put under the microscope. Again, is just a distant possibility, but do you really want to take the chance. You've been around this business long enough to know that when the feds are looking they'll keep digging until they find something. Just my two cents.

I definitely respect your experience in the industry. All I'm saying is that, regardless of circumstances, decency and morality (in my opinion) are defined by what one does when nobody is looking.

You didn't really answer my question. I was assuming you'd look for weaknesses in my scenario. It doesn't include giving flight instruction.

I think people are overly paranoid about this issue. But whatever floats your boat....

Here's the weakness boss, the kid I'm telling you about was a friend of mine from college, and he was also trying to earn a little cash on the side while giving tours on a dash to build multi...it didn't take the feds long to figure it all out. The kid he was teaching told them about paying him on the side, he was lucky to walk away with a slap on the wrist after his daddy's lawyers went to bat for him. Their concern was the incident itself, but they also addressed the legality of his flying as a CFI or lack there of as he could potentially exceed his limit. And as for the school, half the fleet grounded for about a month and a nice fine to go with it. This is the wrong field to assume chance is on your side.

By the way, not nagging on you, but there is a quote button on top of the reply column...it looks...well, like a quote!
