Really?? My CFI instructor's boyfriend went to Skywest and she said that he loves it there. I'm not an airline pilot yet, so I'm not gonna say much else about either; I'll let the other folks chime in.

Things are a ugly here at ASA as we try to settle a contract after 4 1/2 yrs. This is coupled with some drastic (and needed) changes by Delta dealing with below-wing personnel. Did I mention the low morale and poor leadership?
On the bright side, we are nearing a contract resolution (or strike). Both the ASA mgt and union reps met with the National Mediation Board over the past few weeks. From what I hear we are getting closer to an agreement on many sticky issues in the contract (read: pay and QOL) but can't quite clear the final hurdles.
What specifics are you looking for about working for ASA?

. Low moral, for me, would be a huge sticking point. I guess the low moral would/could be fixed by a new contract? But hey, this isn't for me. I'm just trying to horde info, and pass it along for processing. Are guys getting put on reserve for long periods of time?

From what I hear, SKYW will be putting a base in ATL soon. Apparently, they have started with a few reserves but soon the squeeze will be on ASA.
If SKYW, agrees to a pay increase at ASA, YOU CAN BET, that the pilots at SKYW will scream loud, hard and long for the same treatment. It's a sticky situation for management. But we all know that Congress won't let ASA pilots walk off their job, no matter what ALPA says.

Oldshoolear you are definitely thing of Mesa. SKW has always been a wonderful place to work. Yes things are changing and we'll see where we are in a few years. If you search for SKW and MAG postings you’ll be able to read why MAG SUX and SKW is among the top in the industry.

I disagree. Skywest guys are so convinced that they are living the good life (which is sad), theyll find a way to justify it. Not to mention there is zero unity amongst SKW pilots. remember the 1% pay raise? what a joke
