Default Envoy or CommutAir as a DEC?

I have the time for both and have spoken to both. Which do you think is better?

CommutAir, I'd definitely be an E145 CA, EWR based and reserve, but still flying a good bit due to their shortage.

Envoy, not sure of anything. Would actually be a CQF and flying FO and CA, reserve, and not sure which aircraft. Anyone have any info on this?

Pay: CommutAir gets the nod here.

No CQF stuff at Envoy, at least not currently.
CRJ or E145, most likely 145 (and if you get CRJ, you can bid to E145 right away). Long reserve. LOOOONG reserve.

Sorry, meant DEC. I confused Envoy with another carrier that called me about their CQF hiring.

CQF is a completely different thing. Envoy hires Captains, not CQF's.

Okay, so what's the word on Envoy DEC's? Aircraft, bases and time on reserve.

E145 or CRJ, likely ORD, long reserve.

You will be on reserve 3 years at a minimum as a DEC at envoy.

So I have been a DEC at both. Envoy isnt perfect but is lightyears ahead of Commutair. Yes you will sit reserve for a long time at Envoy. You will also sit reserve at least a year at Commutair. The difference being C5 doesnt even have SHORT CALL (They do but they hardly ever use it). At C5 on reserve you will be at the airport on standby 19 days a month. I hope you dont commute. Actually commuting to reserve at either one stinks real bad. The flow at Envoy is an actual flow, but for you it will be somewhere in the neighborhood of 8 years. That being said the CPP at C5 ain't no flow. You have to pass the Hogan, then pass the interview, then keep your nose clean at a company that is operationally really old, while getting 1000 hours PIC out of EWR being constantly canceled. If you have any more specific questions. PM me.

^^^ALL of this^^^

Many CAs from my new hire class left CommutAir because how bad it was. Several to Envoy, several to Endeavor. I left after 13 months to Endeavor. Absolutely no regrets. CommutAir is run by folks with little to zero experience outside of their small little bubble. And like stated above, C5 doesn’t even use short call... they will sit you and six other CAs in EWR for eight hours a day for four days in a row. Awesome sauce.

Go to Envoy, with a REAL flow. Everything they do is more professional and well run. Still a regional, still sucks sometimes, but lightyears ahead of C5.

And now a CommutAir jet has run off the runway at a Maine airport.
