Default Leaving 135 for Regional

Here we go. I was hired at a small 135 right out of flight school. My total time is 1100 and 800 of that is twin turbine. I've absolutely had my fill of 135 life style so I'm biting the bullet and heading to the regionals. I live in west Texas and will be commuting. Horizon Air seems like a good choice. Taking suggestions based on pay and schedule. Thanks!

XJET for UAL and Envoy for AA. They both have programs to get you to mainline. The CPP is faster at this point to get to mainline. Horizon has a program but it’s not that great from what I hear. Plus they only have bases on West Coast which would be a long commute.

PSA has the best route to AA and upgrade. Higher pay than Envoy. Gimme a call and I'll tell you everything. I'll PM you

You live in TX and are considering Horizon? That's crazytown.

What rationale has lead you to voluntarily consider commuting to Horizon from west Texas?

My wife is from AK so her family is up there. And I like Seattle just not thrilled about commuting.

I still wouldn’t commute that far go for bases near by and make your life easier.

Regional rule nr. 1: Don't commute
Regional rule nr. 2: If you have to commute, pick the easiest commute available
Regional rule nr. 3-99: read rules 1 and 2
Regional rule nr. 100: Pick the one with best work rules and pay.

Chasing money in regionals is sheer stupidity - todays hero will be tomorrow zero, it's all ebbs and flows.
2-3 years ago Endeavor and Republic were dumpster fires, now they are the top dogs. 2-3 years from now someone else will be the top dog. And no-one should do sideways moves in regionals, unless you've moved to a location you can't commute from, or your regional is about to shut its doors.

That is a horrible commute. You need to keep it to one leg, as short as possible, and in the same time zone. Somewhere with a DFW base is what I would shoot for.
