Default Splitting Referral Bonus

I notice that many regionals offer unlimited referral bonuses with some up to $5,000 (PSA). Is it common for people to refer others and split the bonus? Is it really as easy as it sounds, or is there more to it?

An acquaintance tried to get me over to Piedmont, put quite some effort in.
Till I told him I’d expect him to split the bonus with me if I mentioned his name.
If not I’ll mention somebody else name.
You’re basically a blue falcon if you don’t split it.
All went quiet when I got hired elsewhere...
What happened?
I thought we were buddies?

I always split the bonus. I know people that try to get away with not doing it.

Why would you, “expect” him to split the bonus with you? It isn’t your bonus. You didn’t earn it. Yet you, “expect” it? If a “friend” told me they expect me to split my bonus with them then I’d rescind the offer. “Best of luck to you”.

How about instead of, “expecting” him to split it with you, let him keep it. Then when you’re hired you get friends to come join your regional too and *GASP* keep the bonus money you earned. And then they can do that same thing also. And so on and so forth.

You even told him you expect him to split it with you.

I never split the bonus. But all of the people I refer get through training successfully and they become beneficiaries of whatever help and advice I can lend them the entire time they’re here. I can’t say the same for others.

Because *GASP* there are tons of people willing to split it so why would I let my friend essentially rip me off for thousands when we can both benefit

Again, how exactly is he ripping you off? It isn’t your money to begin with...

And why make a thread about your obvious obliviousness to your own extreme sense of entitlement when you could just as easily have gone and split the money with someone else? I wouldn’t recommend you even if YOU offered to pay me $5K on top of the referral bonus.

Not all referrals are the same. Myself and a couple others on here go way above and beyond for the folks we refer. And no, we do not split the bonus.

I wish your "friend" would tell the CP about your desire to split the bonus with him or you would find a new "friend".

This thread is ridiculous. Split it, don’t split it, every situation is different. When I started I gave a friend’s name and because I knew they were needing the money I didn’t ask them to split it. A while later another friend asked if I would split the bonus with him if he put my name down. I said sure. Why turn down half when the alternative is zero? Maybe I’m too dumb or not self righteous enough. Whatever
