Some won’t touch your bags cuz Covid but will touch your money in the same ride.

You must be lucky. Id say at least 30% of them dont touch bags in my experience

I like it better that way. If I can lug the bag for miles, up and down stairs, and stuff it in and out of an overhead bin, do I really need someone in worse shape than me to move it three feet into the back of a van? A resounding No. I'll get it and keep the buck. Van driver drives the van. Guy with bag continues to schlep his own bag. Everybody wins.

Same with me. I don't mind loading or uploading my bags, but if I'm going to do the work then why tip?

Man, my tip really has nothing to do with whether they touch my bags. I don’t care about that at all.

Be on time and don’t make me wait. I care about that. Don’t make me feel like I need a five point harness during the ride. I care about that.

Have some pride in your job, you made it! You’re an airline pilot. You should be a leader, and you should hold yourself to some sort of ethical and moral standard. Stiffing the van drivers because “you don’t see the point” or “you don’t want to cave to social norms” is weak. Stiffing them because you don’t carry cash is just poor planning. Get your sh!t together and pretend you’re a professional.

If you want to tip, do it. I don’t and won’t, and am still amazed by the criticism made against that with logical fallacies and false equivalencies to it being a judgment of character and morality.

For those of you that swear by the social norm or any other argument that has been made, knock yourself out. But let’s be honest. Many of you throw a dollar or 2 at the van driver because it makes you feel less uncomfortable than not doing so. Spare me the moral superiority. I’m at peace knowing that my qualities as an airline pilot, a professional, or a leader come from being responsible, respectful, caring, empathetic, and loving to my family, my community, my friends, the public, and the planet I inhabit.
