Quote: I just got a letter in the mail. It said we are interviewing other canidates at this time. I thought the letter was kind of lame after I got a hotel and spent two days coming up there for an interview. Everyone at the interview made it sound like I did very well. I thought I was in and than I got the letter. I thought it was very lame!!! Any ways hope you guys like Messaba I guess I didn't meet the requirments what ever they are????
Sorry it didnt work out for you. Rumor that I have heard is that they are tightening up on the requirements a bit now that hiring is slowing a bit. Best of luck to you.
I wouldn't say its as much as slowing down, for Mesaba, its more like backed up. They have so many pilots and have no where to put them right now. They are behind on recieving the remaining CRJ200s and the delivery of the CRJ9s are backed up as well. I could be wrong.

Requirements:
-Know how to fly IFR
-Have a good attitude
-Know how to be a professional pilot
-Know how to fly IFR

Most that get sent home/letter for one of the above.

I got the same deal, after what I thought to be a pretty good interview. My question is if we don't meet the requirements why invite us for an interview? One of the few things I can think of was during the "How do you feel about making low pay...?" question I kind of reacted with a dumb look so you might be able to chalk that up as a 'bad attitude' but, out of the 3 remaining guys I took the van with to drug test, we all seemed pretty confident on how the day went. OH WELL. Just take it as experience (yeah its BS that they make you pay your hotel, since as a CFI the $80 at homestead actually hurts!) and head back up in another 6 months I guess...
Being a CFII I hope my Instrument flying knowledge is ok. ha. Just got done with the checkride a month ago. My time is low in the clouds but my flying and knowledge should be up there is I can pass the double I checkride. As far as DUI and any other driving problems I have had one accident ever and no tickets. I have about 800TT and 75 Instrument. I guess we can speculate all day on what went wrong and it is normal to think you screwed up somewhere but I guess we will never know where we fell short. I consider my self very outgoing and friendly. Anyways I am writing this in order to help future applicants and let them know what I experienced. Everyone at the interview were really cool. Messaba seems like a fun company to work for. You guys all seem to chat a lot on here so that seems cool but I really wish I knew what it was that didn't make the cut. Take care who ever took the time to write and hope you all continue to enjoy Messaba! And to the other person who got the letter see you at another interview!!! Until then i will be flying that skychicken around teaching folks how to fly. It isn't all bad I can stay in FL a little longer. Have fun with Northern winters!!!!!!

Peace!

You should have told them you were with Mesaba, they would have only charged you 45 bucks. The hiring process is a mystery. I know people with over 1,000 hours and no interview. Right now 600 hours is a lot for Mesaba new hires - I'd say 75% are right at 600 or lower (Its been rumored that there are people with around 250). Maybe some of you people not getting hired are messing up your Wonderlick or have something on your record you were unaware of or maybe they don't need people like they did in the fall.
