Is everyone sitting around that much on reserve, or is that something specific to the 200?
I can't speak for anyone else... so I don't know how much other people are sitting around. Yes, I am on the 200.

Nobody really knows why we are hiring right now. The airplanes we have on property are staffed adequately. You will see a hundred different theories on this thread and board as to why we are, but no one, except management knows whats going on for sure. Most everyone expects that we will find out once the merger is finalized.

OK, I take it back, you can get off of reserve on the 900 quickly if you're willing to go to the base with the most junior crews.

Also we continue to hire for the 900 and the SF3. There was a 200 class in the Middle of May and then there was no other class until the beginning of September (With new hires). Between these two there were a lot of (more) senior FO's that moved from the saab to the 900 so that somewhat worked to your disadvantage. The class that started at the beginning of September just finished sims and is about to hit OE. As soon as they are done you can expect SF3 and 900 New hires every subsequent two weeks, except for the one class where 10 new hire 200 FO's were thrown in. This is simply because we've had a new hire SF3 and 900 class every two weeks since the beginning of September except for the September 25th class that had the 200 vacancy.

So in summary from the vacancies between beginning of September to now you can expect 44 -900 New Hires and 51 SF3 New Hires to come on line and only 10 200 new hires to come on line... hence making the 900 and SF3 possibility to get off Reserve much quicker. However, you are correct in saying that if you want to hold a particular base it may be an extended stay on Reserve as well.

Also look for another vacancy by the end of this week.

I will say that scheduling has been surprisingly responsive to requests to move reserve days around. I have been able to get days off that I wanted by moving reserve days around on several occasions, so I imagine they would be willing to move reserve days around so they're grouped for you as well.

For those of you on the 200... How are the lines? How long are people sitting on reserve these days? How much flying are newbies getting while on reserve?

Thanks!

Yes and No..MEM is your best bet...but we don't have alot of 900's there...DTW and MSP are pretty balanced as far as seniority goes as far as FO on the 900 right now...I bid 48 in MSP (#2 reserve) and I'de be bidding 50 in DTW (#1 reserve)...thats having been here for 11 months....it's very slow right now

I use two 2" Jepp Binders for the approach plates and one 1" binder for the Airport Directory

As far as the route maps I just bundle mine up with three rubber bands

I have all my 900 charts in 2 2" binders, and 1 1" binder for the common destinations. I personally put all the airport directory pages in front of each airfield. Alphabetically, I have A-N in one binder, O-Z in another plus charts. My 1" includes ATL/DFW/MEM/MSP//ORD/DTW so that takes up half the space, but the rest of the places I have been so far fit in there as well.
