The majority of the -200 FO's were hired just a year ago. They are not senior enough to hold capt on the Saabs. I bid over half way up on the -200 and I was hired in Nov of last year. Still in the mid 800's on the seniority list. There should be a little movement now on the -200's.

Do you think there will be more upgrades coming up?

Default DTW questions

Hey Guys,

Two Questions,

Any Hotels around DTW that give discounts to XJ crew?

and which reserve call out period for the saab gets the most/and which the least flying?

Thanks and Happy thanksgiving!

Yeah probably a few if they keep running upgrades on the Saab. I think there are a few guys that are in the 700's seniority wise on the -200. The only thing is that I think quite a few -200 FO's live in MSP and may be waiting for a Saab left seat to open up there instead of commuting. That might take a while.

I believe the 200 is also overstaffed on the FO side. The captains must be too if they are releasing their seat locks.

We are so over staffed in the 200FO side. I bid 47 and I go between holding the last line and the first buildup line of every month. If you're hired into the 200 as an FO now you'll be on reserve for the rest of your life. You'll be bidding in the 90's. Just like it was mentioned earlier, the majority of the "Senior" FOs in the 200 are newer and don't have the time to upgrade or are waiting for a MSP Saab spot. If I were a new hire and had the choice, I would take the Saab hands down. I hear it's an amazing plane and there's lots of movement now. Plus I'm selfish....when there are new guys on the 200 the green lines throw me back to the build up lines! ha ha.

Yes, the Metropolitan Hotel near the airport is where we stay and I hear they give killer deals if you tell them you're with the airlines.

The detroit met. Hotel costs $42 a night with tax, and I have been told others on that road have similar rates. The DMH has always asked to see my XJ ID.
Regarding reserve, I have tried all three periods and there does not seem to be any predictable usage pattern. As a commuter, P2 has worked best because I can commute in on the work day, and I've always been released or finished an assignment early on the last day.

Be careful..... There is a huge difference between the Detroit Metro and the Metropolitan Hotel..... You'll only make the mistake once.....If you live through it. But, the Metropolitan has been good. Their rate vairies though. Somtimes out the door for 37 and sometimes 42..... depends on whos at the desk. And If Ja BOO BOO is driving the van at night.......You can plan on waiting for any where from 45 to an hour.....Probably the reason most of the Mesaba comuters have bailed from there...... Hope this helps!!!
