Quick question about the FCC form 605 we need to get. I start class Monday and haven't had much luck with exactly which form, and where I need to go/do to fill it out. Moving at the speed of government I suppose, though soon to be the speed of the 340!

http://wireless.fcc.gov/uls/index.htm?job=home this is where you need to register

http://www.fcc.gov/Forms/Form605/605.html this is the form to fill out

should be the one, costs about $60 and takes less than 2 weeks to arrive

you need to register with them and fill out a bunch of useless stuff

it is an all online process

hope this helps

Yes I was surprised to discover what an easy process it is and that the FCC moves much more quickly than the FAA!

So I just got to the FCC page for "apply for a new license" and the fee is 110$. I remember hearing 60$ so before I go spending an extra 50$ is there 110$ set up fee, then 60$ for the license? Or am I even in the right place

I would say your not in the right place, unless the fee has gone up, because it was only $50-60 when I got it.

Under the new licenses on the FCC website, I followed the one this time that said "restricted operator" which is equivalent to a 60$ charge. I'm assuming this is the correct one since we need the restricted radio operators permit? Thoughts? Annoyed by me asking so many questions?

Yes, you want the "Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Permit". From the title, it seems they have updated and modernized the price only. The language is stuck in the 1950's.

The website is not very good either, is it?

If they're still giving out a paper license, I recommend spending a couple more dollars to have it laminated at Kinko's.

$60 sounds about accurate.

Everything looked right and I clicked the "Restricted Operator" and was then sent to form 159... I'm just so damn lost on this thing.

It is the sixty dollar one and, yes, it is confusing.
