Mesaba new hires
#6711
Are all Saab's slated to be returned by the end of 2011?
If this is the case, with the combined Colgan/Mesaba receiving 15 Q400s between now and the end of 2011. Would this not be a net loss of airplanes?

Why would they post a vacancy bid when the rest of the Saabs are planning on being parked? Where are the pilots gonna come from to fill the vacancies?

The pilots will come from the SAAB or 200. We are understaffed on the SAAB but will go to overstaffed very shortly when the planes go back.

I can't remember the last time I saw an actual VACANCY notice. Although it's not exactly the same type situation, it was kinda nice to see one of those again.

I guess you all didn't notice the usual disclaimer of "
**The Company may not award secondary vacancies created as a result of the 10-11 Vacancy Award** "
I.E. the company fully expects all "vacancy" positions to be filled by Saab captains, which will NOT be filled therefor making this a defacto Realignment award.....
Now IF NO Saab captains choose to bid over to the jet....
HAAAAA HAAAAA HAAAA HAAAAA HAAAAA
.......
HAAAA HAAAA HAAA HAAA
....
Sorry that was uncontrollable after the cancellation of the flow....
Just about every Saab CA missing the cutoff is now bidding the Jet to avoid being fenced into a Colgan prop base. We are used to the NWA ( Soon to be PCL Jet bases) Most want to stay there ( at least til SLC is open which would still require being on the jets )
Yea, guys with that backfill clause this is a realignment. There will be no recalls because the 4 900 spots will all be filled by senior Saab captains jumping over with the end of the flow... I would guarantee the seniority numbers for those moving will be senior to 400 in every case and (other than an oddball CRJ2 going to CRJ9) all Saab Ca's and there will be no backfills or recalls. This is a realign.

Will fences and SLI be based on current status and equipment? It sounds like ALPA policy on SLI and fences is more geared toward status and equipment at the time of the merger announcement.

Since Colgan will be merged with us and they are hiring, you could look at it as we are hiring..........sort of. There are still a bunch of furloughs to be recalled so if Mesaba were to hire all those on furlough would need to receive recall notices first.
