Mesaba new hires
#6671
You may be right, I have no idea and honestly, at this stage in the game I don't even care all that much anymore. However, a few things. As I understand it, Continetal (and all the parent airlines of the regionals) have no liability for any happening at the regional level. Will this be changing? If the liability is too high for the regionals then it is too high for mainline too. If that is the case we will all be out of a job soon.
Secondly, the new FAA regulations will hurt the profit levels of what companies? The regionals or mainline? The new regulations may rise the the cost of doing business for the regionals but mainline doesn't care. Mainline doesn't get any profit from either the wholly owned or the contract carriers, they are both fee for departure. It doesn't raise the cost of doing business for mainline. So neither of your points are really relevant to the argument you are making. Maybe Delta wants out of the regional business, I have no idea but you are going to have to come up with better theories.

Not at all surprising, check mymesaba for the official letter, all Saabs are officially being parked.

Well, to all the people and including myself that interviewed and were put in a pool at the end of 08 it was fun. At least it was good experience.

Yup unfortunately that pool water will be long evaporated and nothing but a moldy residue left behind before anyone comes along here to scoop anything out of it. Sorry to all the poolies, but I guess it's better to have just been in the pool keeping your current job than be the guys that were here only a few months then furloughed.

I am deeply saddend to hear of the Mesaba news. It is very hard, but try to keep positive. I've been on furlough for 19 months now with Comair and there is finally a bit of good news regarding recalls. Mesaba was still hiring when I first got furloughed, so just hang in there. The punching bag will go to another DCI carrier soon and Mesaba will get good news again.
