I don't know how much longer they'll be outsourcing SIM/ORAL/checkrides to CAE in Denver/Montreal because the -200 SIM in Minny has been certified (as far as I know). Once they get the crews that are behind through, they should probably begin opening up that SIM in Minny to the people behind us.

Before I was hired by Mesaba, I talked to ATP about doing their CRJ Transition Course. I was told by them that initial airline training had a 25% fail rate. Is there any truth to that? It seems a little extreme to me.

I believe the average failure rate is about 3-5 percent. This isn't folks getting fired, it's orals & checkride failures. They watch this stuff closly and look for trends. if six guys fail the oral cause they didn't know the hydraulic systems then the training needs to be revamped. Follow everyone's advice here and you won't fail. Welcome on board.

Guess i can't pm yet
[quote=evh347;292757]For any -200 guys out there, feel free to PM me for a really awesome ORAL guide. One of my FO colleagues copied the entire thing from the end of the Bombardier CBT Systems training and it was a HUGE help when it came to preparing for the ORAL.
Do you think you could PM me with a few tips, hints anything to help on my way to sims in Denver this week evh347? Anything you could send my way would be greatly appreciated. My oral is in a couple weeks and im trying to get everything i can to study up on but havent talked to anyone that has taken the oral to know what to expect. Thanks 200MSPCRJ

How hard is commuting to MSP from BNA or MCO? I'm trying to find information on crash pads and what I should do. Either commute or live in MSP.

Well which one?? Those places are quite a ways apart. Both of them would be very difficult commutes in my opinion. If you have any way possible, I say move to a base at least....any base. I am single with no ties, kids, pets, etc., so I moved to MSP from DFW and I'm already so glad I did....this will make QOL a lot better for me. Luckily there are quite a few "employee shuttles" back and forth from DTW all day long so that commute isn't so bad. It's all about QOL and what your able to do.

Im from the NY area....does anyone know what might be the easier commute from NY area: being based in MEM or DTW

Got my FOM via FedEx this afternoon for the Jan 14 class...it came with the worksheet review...I plan on reading the entire FTM before class starts a week from monday, but I'm just wondering if that first test at the end of the week is entirely covered in the simple review they send with the FOM...
I did find some stuff in the FOM that still mentions the AVRO....kinda funny

As previously stated, the focus for the first week will be on the slides they present to you in class (take notes) and then a HEAVY dose of 3585 and Duty Times. 25% of the questions on the Indoc test will be on those two topics alone. If you can't figure that stuff out before test day...you will find it difficult to pass, so ASK QUESTIONS and complete the HOMEWORK they give you in class prior to reporting to the next day's class.

I heard that Mesaba will be getting a -900 SIM in Minny, but that it won't be operational until at least September 2008. As with all Mesaba information, I provide that info to under the pretense that it's 2-week old information and (like everything else) subject to change. And remember, I don't work in the training department...it's just what we heard while in Denver from the CAE folks.
