I think the boys and girls at ASA seem to think we will merge with them...I got a good chuckle out of some of the ASA threads on here...

I agree. They need to pay more attention to what RA has been saying in the last 6 months. I seriously doubt DAL will award any more new DCI flying to ASA or SkyWest. Sure, they'll keep the current flying for now but RA has said repeatedly that he intends to keep most of the DCI flying inhouse in the future.

What's up with this latest vacancy notice? 4 new CRJ2 CA slots in MSP. Is this due to more flying this summer? Crew planning said that flying is increased next month thru the end of the year versus last year.

Anyone who takes RA's words on face value is being fooled. You have to read between the lines.

SkyWest Inc. will purchase the remnants of Comair and Mesa. Mesaba and Compass will also be purchased, either as airlines or assets. The only question is when. Delta wants out of the regional business. Post Colgan, the liability is too high, and the new FAA regs will hurt the profit levels. Anything else is wishful thinking.

What will happen to XJ is all speculations at this point, but I do not share the pessimism some have displayed here because when you read all the interviews given by RA in the past, he made it clear that he wants to keep most of the DCI flying inhouse in the future. However, there is a distinct possibility that Mesaba will be down to roughly 650 to 700 pilots in the future.

Secondly, the new FAA regulations will hurt the profit levels of what companies? The regionals or mainline? The new regulations may rise the the cost of doing business for the regionals but mainline doesn't care. Mainline doesn't get any profit from either the wholly owned or the contract carriers, they are both fee for departure. It doesn't raise the cost of doing business for mainline. So neither of your points are really relevant to the argument you are making. Maybe Delta wants out of the regional business, I have no idea but you are going to have to come up with better theories.

That would be great. I'd be happy with that, especially now that DAL will be hiring. Most XJ pilots under the seniority number below 200 have bid to flow up to DAL anyway, according to the last flowthru bid result. Now more than ever, I think more pilots will opt to flow thru because DAL has better payrates and benefits than under the old NWA.
