Question Commuting from PNS, ECP, VPS?

Does anyone commute from any of these locations? If so, how easy or difficult is it?

I'm seriously considering moving to this area of the country.

I live in Fort Walton Beach and commute out of VPS direct to IAH. I usually always get on my own metal (ExpressJet) but can use American as a 2-leg backup which I have only used once or twice. During non-covid and 4 flights a day to IAH it was fairly easy. I never went out of PNS (about a 45 min to hour drive) or ECP (about 30-45 min) depending on traffic. I have had to recently and only once fly into MOB then rent a one-way car to VPS. All in all, I think it’s fairly easy with covid reduced lines making it a little more challenging. Let me know if you are interested in buying in the area! I know a fantastic realtor!

Summer is usually more traveled especially for the beach but there are usually more flights (4 per day) for United as opposed to winter which is usually 2 per day for United. But I find it pretty easy overall.

lots lots lots of military commuters. Has a reputation for being challenging. If you have options on your own metal, that helps a lot

ATL is a tough commute out of any of those three. Tons of DL mainline commuters and the flights are generally full. CLT is hit or miss as is DCA. Winter is definitely easier than summer, but there are also fewer flights. I'm originally from that area and still travel there to see my parents a few times a year. It's definitely a great area.

I’ve been commuting out of VPS for the past few months. So far I’ve been pretty lucky. But it is on my metal to CLT most of the time so that helps.

Yeah, plenty of ex-navy and some USAF end up back there. COVID aside, PNS always had a reputation for full RJ's with lots of JS hopefuls. I always had JSers the times I flew out of there.

I was a PNS commuter with XJT and moved to base in 2014. We were using nothing but weight restricted RJ’s and only 3 flights a day during winter. That commute started beautifully for years and ended up being so god awful, we moved to base. Countless MOB drives and double legs through ATL.
You couldn’t count on VPS, so from reading others post, sounds like things have improved.

Lots of military filling up those aircraft. I would say these routes are fuller than average, but not impossible. You'll just have to get creative. btw, I hope you like daily oppressive heat and humidity during the summer. It is hotter than other parts of Florida because you get zero cooling effects from the water. Not one of my favorite places to live.
