furloughfuntime is a huge AOC and "The Squad" supporter so you will never get a straight answer out of him. Just be thankful that he and the other "progressives" will never have enough power to ruin the country with their agendas.

Socialism: "a political and economic theory of social organization which advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole."

An example of this would be state-run airlines, controlled by government agencies and committees rather than CEOs and private executives. I don't think anyone in America is calling for that

What you are complaining about is a carbon tax, which is fundamentally a market-based solution to the problem, not to mention the fact that the government has been taxing us for 250+ years. If you think a mere tax is socialism then I guess you'd have to add George Washington to the list of socialists for his role in putting down the Whiskey Rebellion and enforcing an excise tax that farmers did not want to pay.

The advantages and disadvantages of carbon pricing are up for debate, but it certainly is not socialism since it literally relies on market forces to work

Only because of the 2nd Amendment.

With government bailouts and nearly impossible barriers to entry and stringent regulations, airlines are in effect run by the government.

Anything with the word "tax" in it is the exact OPPOSITE of a 'market based-solution.' Not to mention, the only "problem" that is getting solved is in the minds of some who believe in the climate change hoax.

My google search for the definition turned up the same result as well. However, I see a correlation between socialism and the mechanism that is ETS or "carbon tax" if you will. Carbon tax is so, non-definitive in that it can be applied to everything. In theory and not to hard to reach is that some entity could tax you, a tax on your body, a carbon tax for the gases you exhale. I am not opposed to paying tax as it is required for any civil society. However, it's is the over-taxation and the inevitable growth of a bureaucratic government I oppose and socialism is the commonly used mechanism. This door is very easy, even inviting to open. But next to impossible to close.

As for the carbon tax being market based, I can see where your coming from. But just because it's market based doesn't mean I agree with it.

Well that thread went off into the ditch in a big hurry.

Can we please at least thread drift to the merits of Miatas instead of talking about socialism?

A system where a select few control all property, determine what the common good will be and force everyone else to comply. The entire means of production is state run. There is no private sector, free market or enterprise. The price of goods and services is not market driven, but state driven. A system advertised for the "greater good", when in reality only a few elite thrive. It's a society devoid of accountability and liberty.

Did you buy your $65 "Tax the Rich" sweatshirt for AOC's clothing store yet? lol, you can't make this stuff up from the crazy Left.

If we can figure out how to fuel jets with trash we don’t need turboprops to sustain our industry, just a few APC threads like this one ought to do it.
