If you work for a CRJ operator, visit iflybombardier.com and you can access the OEM manual. Short version, 27kts was the max demonstrated. After that, the airline is on their own for testing the limits and accidents are expensive in court. Get a better runway, that is why DX plans an alternate if there is no suitable runway at the destination.

Former crj guy, that was a pretty good limit. Now I'm furloughed and flying Honda...20 knots max. That's awful.

The “new class” is largely weak on cross winds and other general pilot skills.

Yes!

I've done it at the limit and I wouldn't care to try it much above that unless I was out of gas or on fire.

Even if the "max demonstrated" wasn't technically a limit, if you go above it YOU'RE incurring all the liability... going to be hard to explain if you ding a wingtip.

Silver lining... they'll get a few years in the right seat to hone their skills.

^This^ Amazing how many struggle with a <15kt crosswinds the last few years, I think it stems from restrictions at large flight schools where the majority of training and experience is coming from nowadays.

This is true, although no idea how CRJ operators are going to go into places like ORD with these sorts of limitations.

35kts for takeoff and 32kts for landing at YV on the 900. Although I can say the 900 is quite easily capable of 40.
