He/she isn’t far from the truth. I left airways for delta and it was night and day.

The biggest *******s I have ever flown with were all legacy American pilots. The most humble twa. The most miserable America west and the oldest on average USAir.

I'll take the miserable and old over the *******s. Arrogant bunch over there.

The input from all sectors has been reduced because of the “sky is falling” predictions from those who aren’t in the know. Will new pilots start ramping up to meet the new demand curve is yet to be seen.
Will it though? You expect the demand to come back 100% in leisure, business, and international? Very optimistic outlook.

The pilot shortage in Europe is similar to what you see in the States. The big, legacy airlines, will never have an issue finding pilots. But the smaller, ACMI/Charter/ULCC, airlines can struggle to find pilots at times. From fall 2016 to Covid, there was a ton of pilot hiring in Europe, it was really not hard to find a job at all if you looked outside of the likes of Lufthansa, KLM, etc. Even BA went through a pretty big hiring binge for a few years.

And you didn't have to bring a type rating (and hours in it) to these jobs that were easy to find?

Some did require a type and time in type, some did not.
