Default Crew Rooms

What are the crew rooms like at various airports, including outstations and hubs? Is there wireless internet for crews, or do you have to buy it from the airport?

Very few places have free access that I know of. IDE had it in IAD after the launch of independence. That's the only place that I ever found company sponsored wireless.

There are some airports out there that have free connections. CAE comes to mind off the top of my head.

Turthfully though- I never took the time to pull out the laptop when I was in the crewroom. There's usually not enough time to deal with the hassle.

Both companies that I have worked for has had free wifi fr crew use in the crew rooms at the larger airports. Crew rooms can be anything from pretty nice to plywood decor. They are often over-crowded at the large airports.

If you worked for XJET, you would be singing a different tune. We have wireless in out COEX crewrooms. And yes, we have PLENTY of time to pull out the computer and surf. Which is good, because the networks suck so bad and are so slow I'd rather have a bunch of phone jacks hooked up using 56.6 dial up than the low speed wifi.

Yeah, I'm grateful the company provides it, but it defintely slooooooow.

Can't say that I've seen anything of the free wi-fi sorts at the ASA Atlanta Crew Room. Too bad though. We're always the last and least most advanced.

Comair has wireless in CVG and JFK. Never used it though.

SKW has it in FAT and SFO. Haven't tried elsewhere. It is pretty speedy too.
