So...I was thinking about leaving PDT for Eagle because PDT's upgrade is nonexistant. What will Eagle's upgrade be like for a new hire based on these current upgrade projections of 45/mo? Will it upgrade the 4-5 year FO's at most and then go back to being stagnant (i.e. a new hire now will still be looking at a 5 year upgrade)?
Also, what's their contract like...min days off/mo, block-or-better pay?, paid cancelations, crew meals, jr manning, etc.
What would the chances of getting BOS as a base? are they pretty much assuring you of your choice of base before you're hired? how long would reserve be in BOS and what equipment/routes do they fly.
I know a lot of questions, but it's a big move for me and I'd like to get all the info I can before jumping ship...thanks!!!

Might want to go check out the airline profile section first near the upper right hand corner.
It gives great information about most regionals.

True, but I was hoping for more than the numbers on the most junior CA, like what people's thoughts were on AA calling back their guys and what it might mean for upgrades for current new-hires.

I know it sounds crazy, but I am only Thinking about it, no app out or anything. I was just wondering what people's thoughts were on their upgrade changing from what it is now to something better, plus all the other questions I put in that post too. PDT may not even be around anymore when my number is up to upgrade

Heard it from a Eagle ERJ f/o - still looking at at least 5 yrs on the RJ and probably close to the same on the Saab. But he said they are definitely hurting for pilots. He said things are improving...but take that with a grain of salt
On a side note - besides upgrade, how do you like PDT?

Eagles current upgrades are about 7yrs, I am guessing it will drop to about 4-5yrs if you were hired today. In the future it might drop even lower IF AMR decides to expand Eagle. I cant forsee any expansion until after APA's contract is done (2009-2010) and after that, the Eagle contract is up for negotiations 2012. In other words, the next few years are going to be very volatile.
Our min days off are 11 on Reserve, 12 for a lineholder. You get your line guarantee that you bid for, or better. Cancellations are paid (youll never get paid less than your bid guarantee). Crew Meals? Hah! Jr Manning is a daily occurence if you are DFW or ORD based. I am BOS based and havent been JMed in the 3yrs I have been here. LGA and LAX are pretty safe too.
In BOS we fly the ERJ. When you go to the interview you tell them what base you want and they give it to you, so yes you would know right there and be guaranteed Boston. Most of the northeast flying is up and down the east coast. I would say 75% of the flying is some combination of LGA, JFK, DCA, RDU, BOS. Reserve in BOS is currently at about 4-5 months. Hope this helps!

Big help, Thanks a lot!
This may be a dumb question, but...would it be in any way possible by some fluke or something for someone to maybe be able to take night classes a few nights a week with the types of schedules you guys have being based out of BOS? I know probablly not, but my dream right now is to somehow figure out how I can go back to school and keep an airline job somehow...
PDT is great besides the upgrade and dim future...Crews are the best in the business, the Dash is an incredible airplane to fly (I will really miss it when I leave), contract is decent (good pay protections, crew meals, etc), LGA sucks (mostly just out-and-backs, expensive crash pad living), reserve time is practically nothing right now and hard lines out of LGA run about 15-17 days off per month. Plus we've been so short, they've been giving out "double premium pay" to people picking up open flying (that's what you block + 8 more hrs on top of that)...guys are racking it in right now
There are a lot of good things about this place, but the few bad things are big ones, like a future or an upgrade ever...plus I'm from Boston and having a company just give me that base is a nice thought.
