try making this thread again and hopefully it will go a little better. sorry sky and i dragged this out, but i don't see this thread recovering from his stupidity of thinking that the only way to choose a regional is by which one gives you a hire date first,, i hope you can see how stupid that is, and he has not been in the industry for 11 years, i have been in the regionals for 2 and im not that stupid.

I said the kids out the need all the help they can get. I did not say that I think kids need to be told anything. Do not change things. I am looking at things that are important from the point of view of one that is starting at a regional......and not trying to sell anything like good qol etc.

maybe you are from the training department and maybe not, if not maybe you been away from it for a while to understand what I ment.........anyway...no point in boring people with our low level so why dont we just end it?

no need to, i think the guy will start a new thread that we wont dirty up. never worked in the training dept, never been a flight attendant. i know what you ment but it is a lie. this is what you need to say,i will put words in your mouth to help you out.

while in training the sim instructors will decide who gets through the program. if they don't pass you then you are out of luck. you are gone. i know, i know, you say, but i am an employee and a member of the union. then the company throws the contract in your face and says, yes but as you can clearly see we can terminate you in the first year of employment for any reason we deem necassary. and then you say, oh, i guess my hire date ment nothing because i haven't been here a year so i have no protection whatsoever. and then they say, yes you are right, jeff in the sim didn't like the way you looked, so you are gone, or you can resign.

i think that is what you ment to say becuase there is no way in hell someone that has been in the industry 11 years would not know that the first year of employment at an airline is conditional, and that condition is if they want you to be there or no. well its time to go to rendezvous and get some good ole ribs. gotta keep this pilot body in shape!!!!

That was not at all what i ment, sorry

just leave it

There is the same paper work hiring or not. What do you know about it if you never been in the training department? If there would be a practical reason not to hire before training start then all Regionals would do it.

I dont understand why you have a problem if it does not make any difference. If the union would not be any good the first year of employment then all pilots would wait until second year of employment to join. Do you understand my point?

What I ment is that at least you can question things if you have a problem if you are employed as you are a member of the union (if you want).

You can have a representative from the union with you on any meeting the company calls you if you are an employee even if it is the first year. If you are not an employee you cannot question or have anyone from the union at any meetings. You are right that the company can fire you for anything the first year but they will be very careful on what grounds they are doing it if you are emloyed and a union member even if you are on probation. If not, no pilot would join the union the first year.

If you need to find out the wash out at different companies then do a search with the company name and "wash out" on this forum and see if you get anyhting

unfortunalety there are no real records because only the ones that gets to the checkride and fail it twice gets to be recorded at the FAA but those are just a fraction of all wash out.

If you need to know who hires before start and who do not the best thing is to go to the company webb page and read the information and if not there call them or do a search about them here or in any other forum with company info. Even better, call Alpa and ask them about the companies and why it is important to be a member even the first year of employment.

Best of luck

I know PSA hires you from the start so does ASA and American Eagle
