Everything went fine. There are always things I could have done better, of course, but everything was to standard. Thanks for asking.

On top of that YOU ARE WORTH MUCH MORE than the meager pittance that PSA wants to pay you.
PSA's 1st year FO pay is $22.44 an hour. Training pay is monthly min. plus 24/7 per diem. APC's pay stats are out of date across the board.

Right on Texaspilot. Congrats. I know how rough the transition can be. They can humble your ass in a heart beat no?

That's one reason I'm getting the CFI and making double that, tax free.

Good luck charging $44.88 per hour as brand new freelance CFI.
I hope you have a fuel efficient little beater you can deliver pizzas in during the 70-75 hours a week you won't be instructing.

On a more positive note. If you really intend to be a freelancer then I highly recommend you invest in Gregory Brown's book: THE SAVVY FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR - Secrets of the successful CFI.
It will help you tremendously on how to build a solid student base as a freelancer or as an employee of any flight school. Good luck.

I applied to PSA months ago, I wonder why they never called me, I know people who have been hired there with like 300 hours and a fresh multi and I had 630/65.......... Not that I wanted PSA but it just makes me wonder how the hell do they pick?

I've already got the offer to work at LGB as a CFI. Sue told me to call her as soon as I get it and she'll have a load of students for me. Everyone who works there is a freelance and the owner of the joint wont let you charge less than $40/hr to prevent undercutting the other instructors. $45/hr is the preferred number and plenty of new CFIs go in there charging that amount. They do all the advertising for you too. They are extremely short staffed and have a waiting list of students as well. I think it will be a cushy little job since I know everyone there too from when I did my IFR rating. Really is going to be a great place to work.

Not everything is as it seems. It's in SoCal and I enjoy flying in that area. It's not forever though. Just till my other half finishes school out there; next June. I'll be throwing in apps next April/May. How's things at PSA lately, Shanejj?

That is an odd setup. I'd assume they'll give you a 1099 tax form each year and that you are actually subcontracted. If this isn't the case then I sure would like to know what kind of business model "the owner" is using. What does he say about insurance?

No tax form either. All transactions are between the instructor and the student. Its excellent! Not sure about the business model but she's been doing it for 27 years. Insurance is fully covered as well. It's one of those jobs that's too good to be true....But it's true.
