Should I go to NGPA?

Here goes my sure-to-be-unpopular opinion. First of all, don’t go and use the money to buy BTC instead. Second, unless you actually identify with the particular group that runs the job fair I wouldn’t go. I believe in Karma. Don’t sell yourself out and you will be ok. Would you give your hard earned money to the same group once you get hired by your desired major? You’re better off using that time to pick up a trip and building more flight time. Trust me (some internet stranger), interviewers aren’t hiring based off the number of intersectional pilot groups you give money to just to tell you that they’re not hiring right now. When the hiring picks up again, your flying experience will count more and maybe the BTC will turn in to **** you money. Stack sats and flight time…much better investment.
The reality is, going forward, it's going to be up to the candidate to stand out. It does you no good to do the bare minimum and hope that it'll be good enough. Flight time? Everyone will have it. Going to job fairs will demonstrate to airlines that you have the ability to actually show up to something, step outside your comfort zone, engage in a conversation, and push yourself.
Call it BS if you want. But doing the bare minimum won't be good enough going forward.

In todays super competitive climate, with multiple Airbus/Boeing pilots in the applicant pool (even SW and FedEx guys are applying for jobs...), anyone who doesn't want to (not, "cannot", but does not want to) attend a job fair and meet with a recruiter face to face needs a drug test

We have SunNFun in 6 weeks that i'll probably go to. There are a handful of airlines/recruiters that will be there (and a lot more job seeking pilots, too).

I went when hiring was just really ticking up in the last boom, 2022 I believe. It felt that way then too, there are just so many applicants there but you never know what will come of it and who you might have made an impression on. Maybe you scored points in the digital hiring system just by being there. If nothing else it's good interview skill upkeep. Hopefully the weather was nice.

Best recommendation right now:
Fly your butt off in the most complex aircraft you can find a job flying. Hours are always a plus - at least the first 6-8 thousand. Better if they are MEI and/or turbine. PIC preferred over SIC
Second best recommendation:
Keep in contact with those you have previously flown with who have already moved on. Their recommendations will help you get to the next level.
Third recommendation: Don't "distinguish" yourself in any negative way. Like DUIs, speeding tickets, tattoos in any areas visible outside a long sleeve shirt, controversial social postings, weird haircuts, beards, etc., etc.
