Yes, I did a search.
Just wanted a couple opinions for what works good on the Saab? I have a low budget as well, so don't be throwing up $400 chart cases. I just need a basic setup that is cheap and will last beyond the first year payscale brutality.

Costco has a great bag for $100. I spent a little bit on the chart case and got a split leather job from Luggage Works for $180. My sim partner had a catalog case or whatever they call them from Office Max and destroyed it in 8sim sessions.

You can skimp out on a bunch of things as a new hire. Take my advice... spend a bit more and get a good flight case and overnight bag. You don't have to get a top of the line model, but spend more than the bare minimum- otherwise you'll probably be looking for something before the year is out. (And odds are that you could end up spending more in the long run).
I've flown with more than one pilot who had a bag or flightcase come apart in the middle of a trip. It really sucks to have to finish out a 4 day carrying your stuff around in one of these:

I have one of the nice flight bags from Sporty's but are those just a PITA to use? It holds everything I would need and then some and I have used it for about a year now. I figured there was a reason everybody uses the flight cases though.

I got the Korchmar C4146 from MarvGolden.com. Not too expensive and works pretty well in the Saab. It's only about a $100 so its not too hard on the wallet. They have some other nice ones on there if you want to spend a little more. Some of the guys have the ones with wheels on them. I think they use those mostly up in the northeast though because not a lot of guys have them in Houston.

I love the Costco bag. Its becoming increasingly popular with flight crews and If you look around most crew rooms youll see a bunch of these. Theyre EXTREMELY lightweight and can hold a surprisingly large amount for their slim size. Only downside is the wheels are very weak and can start to bow outwards because of their design. But who cares, free replacement at Costco, keep the receipt, walk in with old bag, walk out with new one. Just had to get my first replacement. Gotta love that warranty

Going back to the Saab
1. Is a 19in rollaboard OK or should it be a 22in?
2. Which case will hold up better/longer: the PNT nylon for $149 or the PNT split leather for $179?
3. Finally, for any Mesaba pilots out there, how many 2in and 1in binders are needed?
Hopefully this will be a helpful supplement to the original post. I'll be training for the Saab soon and have the same questions.

2, 2-inch binders will hold all your charts. Some find it easier to deal with a 2-inch for the enroutes and then 3, 1-inch for the airports.

True. The 13 gallon Forceflex is actually more durable then some of the other kitbags I've seen.
If you walk around the airport terminal between the hours of midnight and 3am you can usually find an empty one for free.
