Just wondering when I submit my resume to a regional of how this looks:
- I dont have any prior 121 or 135 experience, and am not a CFI (and have no desire to get it)
- BUT do have about 300 hrs of fire patrol (which was very interesting and I learned alot about pop-up IFR conditions, I was basically the forward air controller for the forest service and fire fighters and it was kickass in general)
I do have about 550 TT and 35 ME with 3 recs. from current Regional Airline Pilots at Xjet and AE.
I can build more hours doing the fire patrol and thats what I'll do if I can't get a 121 or 135 job.
Just wondering if the regionals like that kind of flying?
Thanks!

One of my frineds flew traffic watch for a year or so and was hired by Comair in early 2005. He wasn't a CFI, just a commercial with instrument and a multi engine rating. As best I can tell, regionals are looking at quantity.

The only thing I would suspect would be a problem is your multi time. You're most likely not going to get called by the "flavor of the month" regionals, i.e. Xjet, Skywest, etc., but if you're willing to deal with the abuse, Colgan might take a look at you. A couple of guys in my class did get hired with very little time, so it's worth a shot.

Yes, they are fine with that type of flying, you're short on ME time, but I had about 600 hours flying skydivers, no CFI and got on at Comair so you dont have to have your CFI to get on at the regionals, just the flight time.
