Default CRJ Anti-ice/De-ice

I was looking at the information on the CRJ-100/200 on SmartCockpit and in the section on icing protection, it does not mention the empennage. Is there any kind of ice protection on the empennage? Is the jet exhaust enough to keep it clear of contamination in flight?

The CRJ does not have any anti-ice on the tail section, only cowl and wing anti ice. I think the 737 and other models are similar in that they only have wing and cowl as well, could be wrong on that one though.

The tail has no protection. Exhaust doesn't go anywhere near it...bombardier demonstrated that the horiz stab would still fly even if it was covered in ice. They tested this by glueing large styrofoam blocks in the shape of ice accumulation to the the stabs and then took it for a spin Glad their engineering math worked out on that...

170 doesn't have ice protection on the tail surfaces either. Same thing with the 737.

IIRC the airbus doesn't have heated tail either.

The CRJ will barely climb as it is with the wings/cowls on. Could you imagine if more bleed air were required for the tail?
