I have heard it is better to room with your sim partner so you both have the same crazy schedule. I would feel though that that would be like working with a spouse. Too much time together, but what do I know? I work better in a team environment then by myself anyways. It is more motivating.

Being a Tomboy, I think Iwould rather be roomed with a guy. Just don't get girls, lol
If there is one girl in the class she WILL get her own room. And there will probably be one odd guy out who will also get his own room. Lucky. There is no pairing of same sex pilots and flight attendants any more due to "personality" conflicts in the past. Having your roommate for your sim partner probably works best because it can cause some friction if you come rolling in at 0300 still wound up from your sim and your roommate has to get up at 0600 for theirs. Unless you REALLY don't get along with your roommate that might be the best way to go. Even in that case, it might be worth switching roommates so your schedules aren't causing conflicts.

You don't "have" to spend anything you don't want to. But you will need pants and a blazer and shirts and ties and a belt and brass and all that jazz. I bought 5 shirts, 2 pants, blazer, belt and tie and got out the door for about $500. The blazer was the most expensive piece ($250ish i think?) If you look you can sometimes find posters around the airport or training center of people trying to sell old blazers for cheap. Tough to find the right size though. The prices are competitive with other pilot shops if you want to go that route or you can go through the company and pay nothing now and have them payroll deduct it $20/month for the next 2 years. Think of it as your own interest-free ExpressJet credit card.

Yeah, do what you want with the uniforms. FWIW, I have 4 shirts and 4 pants. I take 2 of each on a 4-day and 2 of each are always at the dry cleaner. That way, you don't have to worry about dropping them off and picking them in 2 days. Also, I know money is tight on first year pay but two uniform recommendations... 1. Spend the 7 bucks a week on dry cleaning. It REALLY shows an extra level of pride/professionalism, IMO. Others may disagree. 2. Take your shirts to the dry cleaner for cheap alterations. Probably $7/shirt and they tailor it to you. Otherwise they're like potato sacks and you have to fold it and stuff it the back and it's a pain in the arse.

Does anyone know if there's another brand of leather jacket (cheaper, of course) that I can wear at ExpressJet? $388- that's a lot of dough!

FYI they're now requiring sim pairs to be roommates, except in the case of a male/female pair. As us ladies become more popular, there is a chance of having to share a room, but with another female pilot. They don't mix pilot class dates nor with the flight attendants. (Personality conflicts? Pilot & F/A are like oil and water. I didn't think it was that bad. It is!)

Wow, lol

Can anyone explain to me what you are studying?

What in limitations? Most of it is graphs.

Also the flows are driving me nuts. There are differents versions for one, two, and three fms cockpits. There is some stuff missing on the poster they gave us. Also, when do we do the callout checklist? Before, after, or with the flows? Are they suppose to be for memmory?

What are you studying in the emergencies section.

Anyhelp would be much appreciated!

Anyone here in the sept 17 class?

I'll sell you mine.
Whisker-- I'm not surprised you have those cards. How many did you "collect" over the years from your F/As?

You Kennedy based? Drop me a PM or an email. I'll be up there starting the 22nd.

Andy

I haven't looked at the AOM in little while, but I think the limitations that you need to know are the limitations that are in bold. And the Emerg. Memory Items are boxed. The flows are very similar. I think the only different ones are the Receiving flows. Are you sure you have a 3 FMS flow, because we don't have any a/c w/3 FMS and never will. If you look at the Normal Procedures and Emergency Procedures sections of the FOM, that should clear up some confusion with that.

Yep, there are some three fms flows. I am going to disregard those for now. Like I said the limitations section says that the boxed items in the graph must be committed to memmory. I am not sure how to memmorize a bunch of numbers in a graph. ie. page 1-3

and what about all the orange tabs?
ie page 2-17 and on... that's a lot of stuff to memmorize

Are the callouts done for memmory too or do you use a checklist?

Sorry for all the questions. This is all new to me.

I appreciate your help
