How hard up is Eagle for pilots
#11
Eagle is crying about not having pilots, yet they themselves are the main reason no one will go there. No one wants to wait ten years to make captain. Second, they would have a whole lot more available candidates if they would lower their minimums, yet they will not do that.

Naw, they already did that.
I'd say they need to do something really dramatic to attract people who are not geographicly bound. (ie in DFW, BOS, MIA, or SJU - there's no other choice.)
cl601, Don't forget to add all the Eagle guys with AA numbers... they were never furloghed, but have seniority at AA. On the other hand recall acceptance is an inverse function of seniority, probably a lot of B6 and NetJet Captains with AA recall rights which thay might not be inclined to exercise when the time comes.
Eagle wants 700 this year, and as of early to mid August had a net of 246 begin training and not yet resign...
It would seem that they will seriously miss that goal if they do not do something that makes a big splash.
I dunno, if its not a Letter 3 issue, maybe they're gonna double FO pay, and make it retroactive to the start of the contract. That would attract new meat and make (some) pilots on property happy too.

well aside from the 12 to 24 hour commute, the overly priced crashpad, being treated like a second class person cause i wasnt puerto rican, the joke of an operation that they had down there, and two of the most pathetic airport cars you have ever seen, it wasnt too bad. Untill I realized that RAH had lowered there minimums and I could easily get back to the United States and my home. I must say that I really miss the flying. Nothing like takeing a fully loaded ATR into a short little strip after flying through a mountain pass on 1/4 mile final.

I think the staffing situation and pilot's attitudes have hit rock bottem. I am optimistic we will negotiate something better then letter 3. No current pilot who has been around for awhile wants to see letter 3 extended unless it calls for all hiring at American to come directly from Eagle with no conditional language. Are you an Eagle pilot? If so based on your attitude I would assume you did not send management an email voicing your concerns. If the union needs your help in the future it would be greatly apperciated. Attitude reflects leadership and since yours is poor we could use your help to show management we are not going to take it anymore. In my discussions with our union leadership it has been conveyed to me that management is very concerned with the current situation of the airline and realize that it better be rectified soon. We have Peter Bolwer and Gerard Arpey's attention and we need to keep it until our demands are met.
