And if your spouse works it's an even better situation. Most pilots will not make a career out of Colgan Air and I see no reason why one could not enjoy a good QOL and build your turbine pic time and move on to the major's, fractional or whatever. I just got hired last week and look forward to my time there and we'll just have to see what the next 6 mos-1yr bring. If I can spend more time at home and see my daughter grow up it will be worth some of the bs that I might encounter. We all have to make sacrifices here and there. Which ones you make are up to your needs.
Ii agree, I tend to rant, I just had a very SH*TTY time at COLGAN, but I was based in a MX base, far far away from home, not to mention I was mostly on reserve in ALB so I got ABUSED..............but I agree I have talked to people whos situation were'nt anything close to mine, but I have also talked to people who pretty much went through what I went through, most of them are no longer at Colgan, but to each his own.........

I never said that I've put my time in or that I know all so I'm not sure where you're getting that from.

Well lets face it you haven't been there long at all..............so you really have little experience with Colgan.

PS what you said was it wasn't important how long you have been there...........................

Under those circumstances I don't blame you for feeling the way you do. Sounds like you probably had to ferry a lot of broken planes if based at a MX base. That could easily discourage ones motivation. And true, I know your not the only one to have those situations. I weighed the pro's and con's and made my decision based on numerous factors as mentioned above. I just wanna fly man! And hopefully get based at home or close to it within a few months after training. If I were single and didn't have a little one maybe things would be different, but this is the way it is for now.

SAAB, you were just at the wrong base at the wrong time. Being on reserve for so long at a MX base must suck so bad. But I can tell you it is not that bad..I have had one MX flight since I have been here and only a few days reserve in which I slept through.

Yeah my time in ABE was 10x better than ALB, I spent about 8 months in ALB, and only 2 or so in ABE...........

Just wondering, is Colgan opening a pilot base in Columbus, Ohio? Thanks.
