It's just like your initial. Know your systems, Ops and Flight Stds Manuals.

Yes, but I don't think the MV/LOE is as difficult as the initial checkride. Granted, I took my initial in the days before AQP.

You can expect the following on your MV...

Baltimore VOR RWY 22, ILS RWY 10
  • Low Visibility Takeoff
  • Non-Precision Appr. (CANPA, Green Data, NO FMS) to Missed
  • Hand Flown ILS
  • Hand Flown Single-Engine ILS
  • V1 Cut
  • V1 Stagnation
  • Windshear on T/O
  • [FONT=Century Gothic]TCAS RA and maybe a CFIT
  • Visual Appr. w/ Tailwind into short runway
The MV is not bad at all. My CA called in sick, so I had another instructor as my NFP. Hardest part for me was getting used to the Sim again. My MV lasted <1 hr. Review Section 7 in your FSM and you'll be good to go! Have fun!

Study your tail off

Folks are busting the oral lately.

TristarJS30 02-12-2008 06:57 PM

I heard that too. The folks I talked with from training said that people take it too lightly now that its AQP "non-jeopardy".

I'm not sure if people are taking it too lightly because of AQP. More than likely its because you take your check ride first and then you go to ground school a few months later. I'll bet if you did your ground first and then took the ride it would be different. Not trying to make excuses, just something that occured to me as I was trying desparately to remember my initial.

I wouldn't consider recurrent ground sufficient review.. at all.
