Sometimes though ones that sound cute are not really cute. So I guess FTR will have to tell us.

Careful cessna, you don't want to end up on reserve for the rest of your life.

FTR thanks for the answer. It just seems like some schedulers will work with you more but then I sure some pilots will work with you and some will fight to the end to not work. I will help schedulers if they help me.

We all know its not schedulings fault what happens to us. You guys are just doing your job with what you have. We should be mad at the crappy schedules and all the people who call in sick.

The only things I really hate is when they try to give me a trip that breaks FARs and when I get tagged to do Dayton and back at the end of a 4 day.

Believe it or not, that's actually a good thing. Ready reserves are the absolute last option for getting a flight out (outside of JM). The company would much rather use a long-call reserve when possible than have to burn an airport reserve. Sitting reserve and not getting called gets boring, but it's part of being junior. Just about all of us had to do it. At least you're getting paid something. I've had week-long stretches of home reserve without getting called, which means I credited NOTHING for being tied to my phone all day.
The good news is, over the course of your career, you'll do a lot more line-holding than you will reserve-sitting.

3 months with a line so far and I love it. My guess is that I will be on reserve in March though because I have to bid some MD's..so whoever gets my line...enjoy

I just left ops and found 5 70/90 guys sitting ready, myself included. That is pretty stupid if you ask me, considering it is a Tuesday and nothing has been in open time all day. I was told I would not sit many ready reserves on this airplane, that has not been the case so far.

I bid MD 7 months in a row and always had a line. Just cause you bid MD does not guarantee you reserve.

Has anyone ever done one of the CXO paint shop runs?

cessna126 02-05-2008 01:59 PM

Yeah, I did one back last summer. They drive you back to IAH for the deadhead back. Being as there are not too many flights back to CVG you could end up overnighting or have a really long duty day
