Hard to tell Reserve time. Dont forget to count the people upgrading seats and equipment above you. Mid March start dates in JFK are roughly 15 from a line this month. I started mid march and the math I am working looks like a line in Kennedy if I moved back around DEC or January. I just wanted to see the whole shake out of MCO and GSO.

You have a hire date of March or started flying March? Perrizo I am JFK based, I got A7 easy...however dont want it now and got rid of it.

Hire date of 3/19. Started IOE mid to late June. I left JFK on August 1. I have thought about going back to JFL to try and commute LC. I am getting the 6 readys in CVG anyways.

I would not try and commute on a long call unless you can and are willing to drive if they call you and you dont have 2 flights that meet the commuter clause. I find it would be hard to commute if they call you at 7pm for a 7am show and you cannot drive. I commute from Michigan. There are 12 flights a day to CVG. If they call me at 7pm it is speed racer time to DTW for the 9:18 on Pinnacle and if that doesnt work, its in the car I go. This has happened 2 times since June. Most of the time they will try and call you in the morning to notify you for the next morning.

cessna 126 what was your hire date if I can ask and when were you able to hold LC in CVG. Living in Columbus LC to CVG would be great.

cessna126 09-26-2007 10:58 AM

My hire date was 12/7/06. I went from JFK back to CVG June 1 and was able to hold LC ever since. It has been nice. Over the summer LC's were sitting all the ready reserves or they would give you a trip and then take it away when you reported. It now seems to have been fixed.

Thats only true for the LC2 window. I got the L1 window which is 5am to 3pm. Even if they call at 3pm, there's plenty of afternoon flights for me at least. So I think the L1 is much more commutable than the L2, simply because the window closed earlier. And I usually come from DFW. I'm a mid-march hire too, and pretty close to a line. Not sure how these transfers are going to affect me though.

Wow...you had to drive twice.... crazy... makes me think about all the people in FL who say they are going to bid long call and commute, there is nothing they can do if they can't fly..the drive is like over 20 hours.... I know a few people who want to do that

I live in FL and when i was on reserve i always had the L1 and never had any problems. Seems like if they can get you up there (ie ready rsv) then they can keep you there. But if your just on the window at home its hard for them to give you something that day ( you have to consider if your senior enough to hold the LC then odds are there is someone jr to you sitting at their crash pad that will get the trip before you.) If you want to fly though don't bid these windows.

I found that I have been called off LC2 more for 1 day trips...2 deadheads and 1 leg flying than them calling me for a 4 day. The problem right now seems to be that they use all the short call guys and then call us to put us on short call windows. Florida to JFK would not be a problem. Jet Blue has so many flights you could make, and even some later ones. LC from Florida to CVG might be harder though.
