Heard one of our instructors say that they canceled a class after ours because there was only one person scheduled for it... if that means they are having trouble filling classes then something may change. Put in your ap regardless, what have you got to lose?

Default Ugh!

Did you guys see the November's bid packet? 12 new FO's from MCO and 200 less hours. It's gonna be a long time on reserve for me. It also looked like we lost another 18+ captains and only 3 FO's. Please let the upgrades begin.

Paok; how are you doing towards your 100 hours?

I'm approaching a month since the last time I flew. When are things supposed to pick up? Sitting at my crashpad is REALLY starting to get old. It amazes me that they keep hiring new first officers but yet there hasn't been an upgrade class since summer.

I thought I read somewhere that they were going to try to run 60 upgrades in the first quarter of 2008. I'm not sure how likely that is though. But I also don't see much of a choice. On the other hand, there are plenty of captains sitting on reserve in JFK as well. So it's hard to tell if we are really "short" any pilots at all.

Yea, last month's bid packet said there's going to be 60 upgrades after the new year. And the captains sitting reserve at JFK are always flying...just look at any reserve captain's line.

The word I heard was 60 upgrades in the first quarter of next year AND 12 a month thereafter. I think the trend is smaller more frequent upgrades to better respond to fluctuations in flying.

Part hearsay and part fact.

Reserve Captains (for the most part) in both JFK/CVG fly their ass off. Reserve FO's in JFK have it easy and hardly fly (unless you commute and are forced to sit in your crashpad all week.. then it's not so fun). CVG FO's fly a moderate amount, I'd say more than JFK guys do.
