6 crews per aircraft...does that count reserves for all the sick calls?

I asked the chief pilot in recurrent ground school yesterday and he said we staff at about 10 pilots per plane.

8 aircraft were already supposed to leave and were in the plan already.

so we are only giving back 6 unanticipated aircraft at 10 pilots per plane is only 60 pilots.

we are currently having about 30 pilots a month leave so theoretically attrition should take care of it in about 2 months.

Hope this is right. However, I still wouldn't call it "only 6"....any is bad.

During the flight operation meeting today they said 8 were anticipated and the other 6 are part of the cuts and they will be sitting spare for a while till mother D decides what they want to do with them. The word is they will maintain the pilots and allow attrition to take the numbers down.

Ha.. they did it to me today... sitting L1 tomorrow...

PS: FTR, how come they always deny me open time? I request it usually for the middle day or two in a 4 day off string (hard days) and it always comes up on the denied list with no explanation...

appreciate the offer but they wont do that. What happened to all the hundreds of reserves that were sitting in JFK not doing a thing just 3 months ago?

All my classmates in Kennedy are flying way more than I am. I guess CVG is overstaffed again or something... I probably wont break guarantee until I'm a line holder....
