So, are you telling me they didn't "know" that we would loose more block hours in the fall, but yet they wanted to hire 300 guys?

He claims they "just found out" about this in the last day or two. They were expecting more flying in the fall than normal, but with fuel costs (his key word today) nothing is safe and everything is up in the air. If fuel costs continue to rise, more reductions likely.

He did say they will aggressively look at voluntary reductions in force other than involuntary. Could be a buyout on the horizon for senior folks?? (my thoughts, not his)

No increase in 70/76 seat flying. He said not worth the capital expenditure for the efficiency savings.

Right!! He also said right now even 70/76 seat flying is not profitable right now, so don't expect any new airplanes.

He is strongly hinting at us merging with Mesaba.

We KNEW that DL wants to cut back domestically, and every damn fall the block hours go down again. I would like a straight answer WHY they were going to hire 300 pilots?
