He said we will do anything possible not to furloughs, he wants to talk to ALPA. I smell contract concessions.

Someone is lucky I'm not their boss. Because they would be doing the carpet dance right now. We went from hiring 300 pilots to furloughs in 1 week. Is our contract up or something? This just seems to inept.

If this is really how things are going to run they I might have a suggestion for the first few furloughs.....

What a structure of an airline, lets see, lets ramp up, announcie massive hiring, interview, actually hiring based on a module strategy, and now....SURPRISE...oh Cr@p!, oil is expensive!! May need to furlough...give me a break!
That's good in theory. However, your regular dues money can not be used against another ALPA carrier should a merger occur, hence separate funds must be set aside through an assessment.

Now, if we were looking at merging with, say, Chautauqua, then there would be no need for an assessment since they are Teamsters.

Guys...don't worry about being furloughed yet. I am sure that there will be some sort of buy out from the way Selvaggio was talking. And I'm sure it will be geared towards the senior guys to get them the hell out. And after that, there will probably be voluntary furloughs, meaning senior people that would not be involuntarily furloughed but want to take some time off, would be allowed first dibs, then there would be involuntary furloughs if there weren't enough takers.

When Comair furloughed last time in '05, there were several takers on the voluntary furloughs that really saved a lot of junior pilots' jobs.

I would say we all pool our money together, buy Mesa for $0.25 per share when they get delisted and start our own airline.

I would not worry about much right now. They hired a bunch of people in the past few month and hate to say they will be the first to go. You should be fine if they offer any type of good early out.
