I like how Soaper mentioned only the flight attendant options and said nothing about the pilots. There will be a ton of Captains moving back to the right seat soon... Maybe I'm just mad at the moment, but for this company...the ship has sailed.

300? Good lord didn't know it would be that many. Time to prep the ol' resume!

Dear Dave Soaper,

You suck.

Love,
Diver Driver

Jesus f##### Crist guys! First off all, read the ENTIRE memo. Second, just because they say 300 pilots, doesn't mean you will get furloughed necessarily. They have already agreed on several voluntary options (part-time bid, base vacancy bids, early out opportunities, etc.)

Am I worried I might be out of a job soon? Sure, but I'm not going to get worked up about it and start crying like a little b*tch. Wait until the final numbers are out, until then just do your damn job.

Thank you for your thoughtful and constructive post.

PS: My girlfriend has some extra Midol if you need it.

Meh I think we're just preparing for the worst, and what may be the inevitable. No one is hoping to be furloughed, but I think the number that came out is somewhat larger than we expected, so those of us hired over the last year or so are just bracing. I know personally I'd rather not wait til it's too late, I'd like to have something lined up juuust in case.

At face value, if there were 220 furloughs (which there wont be that many on that side), it would go all the way back to a date of hire of May 20, 2005

For pilots, the displacement bid will affect both CVG and JFK CRJ captains. However, we expect the largest impact to be in our JFK base for both work groups.

The next step for flight attendants is to release a part-time bid no later than July 9. For pilots, we expect the displacement bid to be released no later than July 21."

I'm getting furloughed.

300 pilots is almost double what the forecast planning folks told our training class (June 2nd class) a few weeks back.

Oh well, back to studying.
