Very true I see nothing wrong with picking it up now. However anyone thats picks up open time when a fellow pilot is on the street should be considered a scab. But till that first person hits the street get all you can get.

I try to pick up at least 1 trip a month EF. I'd be more than happy to give up my open time flying, as long as someone out there is going to pay my bills for me. I'm living paycheck to paycheck as it is now.

Everyone has been, or still is paycheck to paycheck. I'd be really careful picking up open time with anyone furloughed. People do keep track.

As of right now nobody is on furlough, and we have no idea how many people are going to get furloughed come September or whenever. Second, if people are on furlough, you do not pick up open time, don't do scheduling any favors and don't bid HI line values. People will find out if you do, and they will get pi$$ed.

Right now there is hardly any open time anyway, at least on the 70/90.

Compared to furloughing a pilot (WARN letter in the mail, 30 days later-please turn in your badge)...

How long does it take for the company to displace a captain to the right seat? Bid for training, schedule training, sims, checkride, IOE?

And if a captain busts his FO checkride does he stay in the left seat?

If he/she does, they shouldn't be a CA in the first place.

Just a warning, if you pick stuff up when people are on the street you are no better then GoJet or Mesa. Both bottom dwelling scum. That is not what Comair is, but then again every once in a while one sneeks through. Do not fly a trip that a person on the street should fly. You may live paycheck to paycheck but the pilot on the street is living unemployment check to unemployment check. Dont fly his trip.

Who's gonna pay your bills if you ever go on strike? Or are you willing to cross the line to pay YOUR bills then too?

Nobody is on the street as of yet, so don't get worked up about nothing. Speaking for myself, personally, once guys hit the streets I will not be picking up any open time. Hopefully the pilot group will make the right choice and do the same, but there will always be a few that just don't care and do what they want.

If you really need money, you could wh0re yourself out to a thousand fat chicks for 50 bucks a piece, or 50 really fat chicks for 1000 bucks a piece.
