Great... I dont want to sit through the whole program again.... Maybe they will bring us in every 90 days of the furlough to bounce 3 in the sim and then send us home...

Does anybody know if we still have to pay the damn merger fund if we are being furloughed?

If I get furloughed and I find out ALPA was all caught up in EMonster to care about my job. Forget the merger fund... they will never see a dime from me.

I'm just sick of ALPA not saying anything. I know all of you union guys will say call the reps they will tell you what is going on but please tell me why I should call somebody I pay to find out what they are doing for me?? All I want is email with no B.S. we get enough from the company. I got junior manned last night and get to be furloughed in a month.

I'm not saying the volunteers don't do anything. I know they are the ones busting their ass to make this place better.

Spoke with an ALPA guy last night, they have a committee working on mitigating furloughs right now. Meeting with the company several times this week he said. Those on the list will be getting a call from a rep this week or next once ALPA knows more about furlough mitigation options to answer questions and get the rumor mill straight. We should also be getting some emails from ALPA in the next two weeks. Remember, these guys are line pilots volunteering, it takes them a little while to get things going/implemented. The guy I talked to said most of the guys on this furlough committee are either being downgraded, furloughed or close to furloughed and are doing everything they can to help.

Some of the things they are working on:

-Voluntary Furloughs
-Extended benefits (flight/medical for 3mos or more)
-COLAS
-Senior Buyouts
-Part time lines/voluntary reduced line values (although he seemed to indicate that this was unlikely to happen)

Now see, thats the right way to do it. I hope something good comes out of all of it.

Any guess how many jobs might be saved, if any?

I just find it wierd that the company wants to lower the min line value to 60 hours, but they first rejected the idea of part time lines. I wonder how much money will they save if they do the part time lines and most of the Senior guys take it?
