Another one of my pointless questions...

What do you think the chances are of a new base opening. When and where?

in the near future, none at all.

There have been rumors of bases everywhere for as long as comair's been around. Dallas was a done deal until the day before, MCO/GSO already existed, BOS has been talked about for quite some time. ATL too a while back.

Nothing will happen, and especially not on the west coast

BUT

If we get new flying, who knows..maybe an ORD base for UA stuff

Default Mesa/Freedom, what it means

Guys,

I don't think we'll see much out of this whole mesa/freedom deal on the DL side of the house. Remember DL wants to cut domestic flying escpecially on the 50 seater. Maybe....maybe a 1000 hours here or there but dont look for anything drastic. Do we still do that big sky flying from boston to maine?

If we get anymore flying it will be from United out of Chicago if that rumor holds true.

Just my .02 but I hate to see guys get their hopes up so high and then crash so hard.

Instead, Mesa contends that Delta is trying to end the contract in an effort to cut flights and boost profits.

I usually don't get my hopes up for anything, but that line from the news article is very interesting to me. Or maybe I am reading to much into it. The contract Delta had with Freedom may have allowed for this escape based solely on performance. If that is true and the cancellation is not based on cutting unprofitable flights, then Delta would certainly need to demonstrate that by reassigning that flying. To whom, I don't know.

Maybe I am being an optimist, but that is just the way I am. Better than being miserable about life and complaining about everything all the time.

I just flew with a check airman who said they just had a meeting with the big guy. So who knows how much is accurate. They turned down the 3 months of flying for a carrier because it would cost more to set everything up to do the flying then we would make. They really only think there is a 50% chance of picking up flying from another carrier. Our crew costs are higher then everybody else but they are trying to use ppass as the offset. Big D apparently had a fit when they found out how much we were offering to do the flying for. The Mesa thing is supposed to be the reduction Big D wants so our flying won't go up but we'll stop losing it.

I'm not saying any of it is true but just what I've heard. Hopefully we get good questions today instead of uniforms.

I thought the concessions that were made was supposed to take care of all that. That's what we were told in ground school.
