Comair updates?

This is totally new, I had just spoken to the wizards as of two weeks ago. The model called for August upgrades with a ECD of OCT. SOmething in the works maybe...who knows, but good news either way.

So I'll go ahead and ask....anyone listen in on the net conference yesterday? Was there anything of substance or was it more rhetoric about our business being based 100% on cost containment and 0% on revenue growth (as usual).

Sevlaggio said "growth" ..but he was referring to us getting freedom flying i think...we'll hear in 5-10 days.

My how things change. Wasn't the last vacancy bid supposed to be the last one until Fall. This will be a good vacancy bid result to watch since they are all 50 CVG CA spots. I am always curious of the intentions of the very senior CVG FOs. Will they remain FOs forever or will they make the jump if given an opportunity to upgrade in CVG?

I too wonderif senior FO's will take jump. I believe this will be a fairly senior FO upgrade..

JS was very clear that their where going to be projects on hold and additional cuts in order to survive the current environment. He said we lost a lift bid that was short term but are expecting word on a longer term lift contract within the next 10-12 business days. Several station managers wanted to know what going to happen with the outstations...JS or someone with him stated that a lot is up in the air because A) Delta has to decide which routes they even want and B) Mesa filed for Injunctive relieft against Delta. JS also said don't expect too much of the FL flying replaced until the competition thins a little more.

Got it. Thanks.
Comair (thanks to Delta) obviously hasn't learned its lessons very well about putting "projects on hold." Talk about complete managerial paralysis:

Looking past the inefficiencies of the system, a crash like what happened back then will probably never happen again, since they've separated pilot and FA systems.

That article is from a few years ago and points out with no great effort whatsoever that complacency led to the crash of Comair's scheduling system. Our current system being split been pilot and F/A isn't really relevant to the bigger issue of procrastination and complacency. The fact that it's written in freaking FORTRAN (late 70's technology) is disgraceful. They've had multiple opportunities to fix SBS. If Comair wants to become "cost-conscious and efficient" then I suggest management fix its infrastructure, starting with the crew scheduling system. Compared with other airlines, it's an embarassment.
