Looking past the inefficiencies of the system, a crash like what happened back then will probably never happen again, since they've separated pilot and FA systems.
The new scheduling system is most definitely not on hold. It is in its final stretch to deployment. Schedulers and tower coordinators have been getting trained on it lately. I thought it was going to be brought online in parallel with the pilot group late April/early May?

In the call I think she did mention that Falcon (the replacement to Toast) was possibly put on hold. Can anyone confirm or deny that?

Has anyone heard the tower audio of the FLL runway incursion that was just posted on Epic?

If not, check out the link below. There is an animation on epic of the 2 aircraft. 15:40 into the clip is ground yelling at the United Airbus to stop. (ironic that it is 15:44 into the clip, and the flight number is 1544?). 27:45 into the clip is the chilling audio of the tower controller begging the Delta 757 to go around after he has already touched down.

Here's the clip from the FAA's website: http://www.faa.gov/data_statistics/a...05_UAL1544.mp3

No that project is going forward. So are some of the backoffice projects. But the online learning for recurrent/new hires will have to wait until next year or the year after.

I'm not sure how Mesa is going to be around long enough to sue delta. Check out the message boards for mesa on yahoo....lots of angry shareholders.

The fact that it's written in freaking FORTRAN (late 70's technology) is disgraceful. They've had multiple opportunities to fix SBS. If Comair wants to become "cost-conscious and efficient" then I suggest management fix its infrastructure, starting with the crew scheduling system. Compared with other airlines, it's an embarrassment.
Thank you MUMU, I have been stating this for the past two years. They have cut cost to a minimum on the workforce depleting any moral that was left. The problem lies not in the operating cost, but rather with the infrastructure of this airline. In early 2001 to 2004 just before the system crash, this place was a well oiled machine. The inefficiencies in crew scheduling, with pilot, FA's and aircraft utilization is archaic, a joke and embarrassing as you mentioned. Delta blames Comair, Comair blames Delta, typical of lack of, or worst yet NO leadership whatsoever.
Chasing ghosts and procrastination is the theme here and we will continue to lose money, and growth not because of high operating cost but rather due to an inefficient infrastructure that is unable to grasp a vision and implement a plan that is current with the times.
Lord knows we have the best workforce for it, now its up to them to provide us the tools and path.
