Why did they stop listing pilots who quit in the Bid Packets? There hasn't been a "QUIT" next to anyone's name in the bid packets the last 2 months. I always looked forward to counting the QUITs every month when the bid packets came out.

Yeah, that much I understand. That's a nice feature to get notified of all of your trips. But if you're junior manned upon arrival and you fail to check out and get notified, I'd think that's an automatic SD.
I know I'm going to catch a lot of flack for this, but I'll say it anyway. We beg, pleade, and fight with scheduling to do everything legally. When they slip up and give an illegal trip, just a friendly correction from us usually fixes the problem. A junior manning assignment is perfectly legal. It seems hypocritical for us to complain when they screw up, but then to run and hide and not fulfill our end of the contract when they provide a perfectly legal JM.

I think of it more of a shot on management for refusing to staff the airline properly and driving people away. I took my first and only JM in 3 years like a man, it sucks, but it was legal and they had me at work already...no way out of it.

As for JM'ing someone while their at home, well that is where the gamesmanship begins...though I haven't heard of any good stories recently.

I wasn't running or hiding from anything. I honestly did not realize that they had attempted to add flying until I was already home and noticed my phone was off and dead. It's 99.99% positive that it is not a requirement for me as a lineholder to check out, and I'm more than eager to get to my car after a trip and I usually don't bother walking back to ops to sign out.

I can always use the money, and the turbine time, so I probably wouldn't have minded, provided it wasn't alot of sitting around and/or a two day extension.

You are required to checkout. It keeps track of your currency in sbs. If you dont log 3 takeoffs and landings in 90 days in sbs, you will go nq.

Oh I didn't mean anything bad to you by it. All I'm saying is that we, as the pilot group, have in our contract that junior manning is a legal and acceptable assignment, but we, as the pilot group on a whole, complain when junior manning comes into play. Under staffed or not, its still a legal assignment.

Bluemoon, I have to disagree with you to a certain point on the staffing issue. Yes, we are short staffed on the 700/900. Just compare the number of f/os and capts. But the latest bid released had 33 trainees, if I remember correctly. That's a huge chunk, relative to the size of the 700/900 pilot group.
Yes, I understand that JM on a day off is a shot in the dark by scheduling. Sometimes they get ahold of us, sometimes they don't. But those who are contacted on a day off, i think its safe to say that they wanted the JM just as tristar said.

As Cessna stated, you are required to check out...in ops manual as well.

I think the point is, while we're not bare bones...33 is a VERY large chunk..Comair likes to stretch things out, and gives out these sparingly to see what they can get away with staffing wise. (See Captain upgrades)

33 pilots at roughly 4 or 5 per class will take close to 8 to 10 weeks to train them all and get them online. The "new/replacement" planes were coming for a long time (they knew even before we signed the BK contract, months before they were even announced) and they (the company) screwed up by not training enough people soon enough. The 33 may help, but they are trying to make it right after the fact.

8 to 10 weeks for training? That's good. Some regionals try to rush thier new hires through training then question why they have a high failure rate. At least Comair extends it a little more to help thier people through, or does Comair have a high failure rate also? I hope what ever annoucement they make, its' good news for you all.
