Well, not too big of a deal but as we turn final to land in EWR and I go to put "Flaps 9" in, you guessed it, Flap fail, after 20 mins of circling and talking to company and running a few checklists my CA does a really amazing job of putting the airplane down right on the markers (I think she just came off of like 3 weeks vacation)and right on ref (163 kts). Wasn't a big deal in retrospect, but the pucker facto was there, the Flaps Zero approach felt kinda awkward, I couldn't help but notice the what seemed like a dozen or Firetrucks waiting for us down the end of the RWY
The whole approach seemed low, flat and fast, but all in all pretty good experience, anybody remember their first emergency?

Had a rudder hardover in a C-152 practicing flight team landings once. Sounds funny to have a hardover in a 152, but let me tell you, they don't want to fly with that big chunk of metal sticking out of the tail

nice work Saab! You are the hero of 50 lucky people
If that is the worst thing you have had happen to you in a couple years of 121 you are doing pretty good! I hardly even call it an emergency!!
Nice work though

The amber message did go out after few minutes of handflying and we were able to put the AP back on.

I'm not sure of the point here. I've got 5900TT, 5100 turboprop/jet, 2000 PICT, flown 2 turboprops and 1 turbo jet. Am I Chuck yeager? No, but I'm not any less of a pilot than someone with comparable times just because I've never had an emergency.
