I did a close to max landing weight flaps zero landing in the CRJ... it was, shall we put it, interesting....

Deck angle was pretty high at touchdown, and the touchdown speed was about 175-180 knots. We burned up all of runway 1L at IAD (11000). The funny thing was, back in the day, ACA didn't consider flaps fail as an actual emergency, and actually had policy that suggested that unless there were extreme circumstances, crews with flaps fails shouldn't declare and emergency.

Congrats, SAAB! And I hope you bought your CA a few beers on the overnight, first year pay or not!

Looks like a normal approach in any other jet... just a whole heck of a lot faster. I think Vapp is pretty close to the 182 knot limitation on the nose tires when you're at max gross.

if you reset the c/b 9 times out of 10 you can clear the flap fail condition on the crj. small trick of the trade from an unnamed mechanic and you didnt hear it from me, and it never happened

Wasn't a big deal in retrospect, but the pucker facto was there, the Flaps Zero approach felt kinda awkward, I couldn't help but notice the what seemed like a dozen or Firetrucks waiting for us down the end of the RWY The whole approach seemed low, flat and fast, but all in all pretty good experience, anybody remember their first emergency?
So all that time flying for Colgan you never had an emergency? From the way you spoke of MX I would think you had a 1 or 2 a week.

Josh, that almost seemed like normal SOP in the CRJ. I had 4 of those in 1.4 years in the CRJ. That was one of the reasons confidential reporting was implemented.

Remember the Do-Jet? All screens going blank SEVERAL times. Lightning my ass! That fleet should have been grounded!
