Currently studying for the ATP written. I've seen some posts about shortcuts for the weight and balance/performance problems. Any insight into this?
Also, I'm studying the whole bank of 1340 questions. Is this the same number that I would be seeing if I went to Allatps?
Thanks

If you go to all ATPs, they will probably narrow it down to 400 or so questions. Personally, I would rather pay their fee than kill all those brain cells unnecessarily.

Short cuts I found on W&B: Don't fall into the trap of thinking you have to interpolate on the weird in between wts of pax, fuel, cargo - espec. on the 727 and 1900 problems.
All they are - are a decimal number times the station - Saves a lot of time - all the decimal multipliers are there in front of you -
But for a guy like me who just flys small stuff now - it is not as apparent till it clicks and you say those jerks - I can save a lot of time here.
(I am doing this from memory w/o the book in front of me I can be more specific if you message me.)
The test is long - I did the FEX 2 yrs ago and loved it - so I am cool with the 727 probs. (they take a lot of time to do -
But I had to take a leak real bad - 3rd to last Q - 727 W&B - no prob. 2nd to last Q W&B - I am like whoa I have to go! - final Q 727 W&B - just did it
I did the Dispatchers test too - I really enjoyed most of it and would someday like to teach a - how to take the IFR - FEX - ADX - ATP class.
The IFR has this major short cut to save time I love to teach.

This works! Best $75 I ever spent. Got a 91 on the written by the way. They only show the questions from the bank that the FAA will use. This program will not "teach" you the ATP cirriculum. It will prepare you very well to "pass the test" with a 90 or better.

there is a chart I think I wrote down
low
2
4
4
14
Medium
High
T2
7
(forgot the last one)
meaning if it refers to chart W4 then it is the lowest number of the 3 choices and so on and so forth there are (2) 2's one is a W something or other 2 and the other is a something or other T2 so that one is the highest number
honestly....just study it because this chart made about as much sense to me as it probably does to you. If you want a good hint, any number that has anything to do with speeds that also have Vr, pick the answer with the highest Vr, it is always right
like I said...just study

I just took the 121 so I cannot help you with the 135 - but since I was doing the ADX as well I studied all aircraft - and I did get 1900 Q's (I think it was for single engine flying perf chart?
I am probably telling you nothing new but - my biggest eye opener on the test was how tight the tolerances got on the charts - on the CM or FEX you could eyeball the lines to the answer - some of these I had to use a piece of paper and follow the lines.
You are a better person than me if you can take the test on the computer images and not use the paper book for this test for the charts.

www.checkrides.com got me done for pretty cheap. great program.
Oh and a hint...most questions with a station in it...if it has 2 of the same number in the answer choice, that is the answer.
